1-to-1 Tutoring
One-to-one tutoring is the best way to remediate areas of difficulty. It is also the best way for a student to grasp essential concepts for upcoming standardized testing. Review and repetition, something most students do not like to do unless they are forced, are key in cementing their understanding of a subject area.
Small group tutoring is done in most tutoring centers. This is not nearly as effective because the teacher can only address one concept at a time. If most of those students understand the idea, they will be bored while the teacher tries to explain it to the other students. The teacher cannot keep all of the student’s full attention at the same time. Young minds wander very quickly; hence, it’s a good option to choose 1 on 1 tutoring in Hampton to focus on a single child.
The best way to keep that from happening is by coaching them one-to-one. When you work with the child individually, you have the opportunity to make eye contact to see if they really understand. You can ask questions every step of the way, keeping their full attention on what they are learning. You can see that quizzical look on their face when they have no idea what is being said.
Here comes another option, i.e. online 1 on 1 tutoring in New York may be more expensive, but the rewards are significant in comparison to group tutoring. Students like to say they understand something when they don’t. When a tutor sits with a child 1-to-1, they can make sure that the student understands what they’re talking about and see that the student incorporates it into their knowledge base.

I can’t believe how fast my test scores improved!”
It’s not rocket science!
Test scores improve when students see a problem and feel confident that they can solve it. In Math, that confidence is built through learning a process and repeating it multiple times. The tutor’s job is one of explaining and illustrating a process that works for each kind of problem, and ensuring that the student is given ample practice applying each process.
And success breeds success!
Dr. Stone tutored me through chemistry and math in the summer before my junior year. He made it easy for me to get through most of my chemistry class even before I took it. He was fun to work with and explained things very well. I got straight As in both subjects after that.
I started out the year with a 28% in math. I was so discouraged! Ms. B (now Ms. Montessoro) encouraged me to keep working on my remedial math skills. It was hard, but I kept trying. By the end of the year, my overall average was 85%! I was so excited! My friends even started asking me for help.
Coach Al helped me prepare for the SAT between my Jr and Sr years. During the SAT that I took in January, my math and English both went up by 140 points, 50 points. His help enabled me to gain admission in my top choice of school.
