A-Team Tutoring was started with the idea that students should think of their tutors more like life-coaches. We don’t want to deliver information and have the students regurgitate it. Students should aquire the skills to confidently approach tests, and apply what they have learned in order to provide the appropriate answer. Students need confidence building exercises to make them feel good about their work so they want to continue to do well. A defeated student becomes a poor student. We want to coach them to work to their full potential!

A-team Tutoring provides tutoring in almost all subject areas. We have highly qualified and certified tutors that are experts in their fields. They have been teaching and tutoring for over 20 years. Ms. Montessoro has additional expertise in special education. Not only do her children have special needs but she also has a master’s degree in the field.
Standarized Test Prep
Dr. Allen Stone is an expert at standardized test prep. His knowledge of the English language, grammar, and vocabulary is exceptional. Being a polymer chemist he can easily tutor the mathematics portion of all of the tests. With a motivated student, the score is generally improved by 80-100 points over the students’ preliminary practice tests.
Study Skills, Organization
We can help your child understand what it will take to be successful in school. We can work on study skills, organization, goal setting, note-taking skills, attention and focus practice, time management, long-term project planning, memory cues, and test-taking strategies.
Educational Consulting & Advocacy
We can meet with you and or your child to consult on their academic progress. We will review your child’s work and any educational or psychological evaluations that you may have already received. We will then go over any test results and give recommendations accordingly.
Educational Testing
We offer educational testing in elementary math and reading, diagnostic testing, and screening evaluations for possible learning disabilities, and possible ADHD. We can also arrange achievement testing. We can work one on one with the parents to recommend particular tests for the school to administer.
Disability Support Services and (SSI) Applications
If you qualify, we can complete the application for Social Security Disability/SSI for your child. We can also help you with any referrals to the Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities and get things started for other services that your child may be entitled to.

Online Tutoring
Learning is easiest in familiar surroundings. We do most of our tutoring around the kitchen or dining room table, where the student is most relaxed. Another popular venue is the neighborhood library, especially when the parent is not available. (If done at home, we cannot tutor a minor child unless another adult-18 years or older-is present in the residence.)
Now, in the Age of Covid, we also offer personalized tutoring online, through Zoom or similar application. Online tutoring has proven to be effective, but requires a bit more focus and motivation from the student!
